Monday night I was putting Taylor to bed. We went through our typical routine of dinner, bath, family prayer, reading, singing, snuggling until it was time to put her in her crib. When I stood up to lay her down she said, "No momma, I snuggle!" and nuzzled into my shoulder. Who could resist that? I sure couldn't, so we sat back down in her rocking chair and sang some more songs and snuggled some more until she was ready to go to sleep. A lot of nights I feel like I barely have time to do anything- after I put Taylor to bed I race around like a mad woman trying to get everything ready for the morning. I make sure the house is clean, the dishes are done, the lunches are made, the laundry is folded...etc. so that when I get up at 4:45 (or at least when my alarm goes off) the morning runs smoothly and I get to work on time. Some nights I race through the routine so that I can move on to the next step forgetting how precious the time I get to spend with my darling little girl is. When I was a baby my mom cross-stitched this quote:
"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow for babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."
I couldn't help but think of it as I quietly sang to and rocked my little girl. Yes, of course I had things that needed to get done, but nothing in this world can compare to snuggling a baby who wants to be snuggled!!!
