Funny girl

Taylor makes us laugh all the time and as she is getting more and more verbal she makes us laugh even more. Here are a few funny things she said and did this week. I have to write this stuff down so I don't forget it!

• I was just getting ready to lay her down for her nap and she was hiding behind the rocking chair. I said, "Taylor, come here, it's lamby lamb time." (I sing her lullaby but use the words lamby lamb- long story.) She ignored me so I said it again and once again she ignored me, so I said, "Taylor, ONE..." and she peeked her head out from behind the rocking chair and with the cutest smile on her face said, "TWO!"
• For some reason she was saying, "Si" instead of yes for like 5 days. She's now back to "yeah" or "yes" but it was so funny. "Taylor, do you want to play with Stella?" "SI!" "Are you ready for dinner?" "SI!" Where did she get that from??
• She is becoming sneaky. Here is one example of her sneakiness. As we were getting ready for bed she was holding her toothbrush and we were getting ready to read. She knows that at bedtime she isn't allowed to get down and play. So, she dropped her toothbrush and said, "I get it!" so I let her get down to pick it up and she tried to run away and play with her toys. I picked her back up and immediately she dropped her toothbrush again and said, "I get it!" I just laughed and said, "Nice try, I know your trick now!
• She started singing the Sesame Street theme song and bounces around the house singing, "Sunny days! Sunny days!"

Zoo!

We had been wanting to take Taylor to the Denver Zoo for quite some time and we finally had the chance to go on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and I think the entire state of Colorado decided it would be a good day to visit the zoo. We had to park like half a mile from the zoo and trek through soccer fields to get to the main entrance! There literally was NO parking anywhere else. It was worth it though. Taylor LOVES animals and it was so cute to see her react to them. She wanted to pet them! She was like, "I touchy! I touchy!" In a couple weeks we're going to take her to a pumpkin patch with a corn maze, hay rides and a petting zoo so that she can actually touch the animals. Here are a few photos and videos from our trip. Because there were so many people it was hard to get good pictures of a lot of the exhibits. The hippos and the sea lions (I thought they were seals and told her incorrectly. Whoops!) were her favorites. We were eating lunch near the sea lions and whenever they barked Taylor said, "Hush!" It was pretty cute. Then she tried to bark back at them. We had a good time. The zoo is just so much more fun with a kiddo! Everything was new and exciting to her and she just had this constant look of discovery and amazement!

Solutions for crib jumpers

So last Saturday we put Taylor down for an afternoon nap. She was MAD and screamed and screamed- behavior which she occasionally displays- but she normally calms down after a few minutes. She sounded like she was calming down (which I later figured out wasn't really due to falling asleep, it was due to her chewing on her crib but that's another story) so I thought, "OK, all is well!" But no, all was not well. Suddenly we heard this loud CA-BOOM! followed by Taylor screaming bloody murder. We ran into her room to find her on the floor. Yes, she jumped/fell out of her crib. It was awful. She was crying, I was crying, Joel was distraught. It was traumatic all around. So, we didn't know what a good solution would be. She is too young for a toddler bed and apparently at 14 months is too mobile to stay in her crib. So, we put her in her Pack & Play for a few nights. BAD idea. She woke up about 3 times every night. I was a zombie at work. So, a few people suggested that we get her a crib tent. Thursday Joel went to Babies-R-Us and invested in a crib tent. I tell you what, it's like the best invention. EVER. She loves it. Every time I put her in her crib and zip up the tent she laughs and puts her hands up on the mesh and says, "HIGH FIVE! HIGH FIVE!" And then she wants to kiss through the mesh. It's so funny.
